The Trattoria All’Antico Ristoro de’Cambi has been in via Sant’Onofrio since 1950, located in the heart of the San Frediano. The street is named after Sant’Onofrio protector of the Arte dei Tintori.
Founded by two brothers Silvano and Bruno, originally a wine-shop, selling salumi, wine and sandwiches for the sand-diggers, All’Antico Ristoro de’Cambi is now a restaurant with cousins Fabio and Stefano continuing the family tradition. Many Florentines have sat at the tables and stools where diners are seated today, eating traditional dishes: crostini, pappa al pomodoro, ribollita, tripe and ‘lampredotto’ – dishes typical of the San Fediano area.
You must try ‘bistecca alla fiorentina’ which is among the best in the city, and on Fridays boiled ‘baccalà’, with chickpeas in broth Livorno style.
Penne with rabbit sauce, tagliatelle with wild boar, penne with courgette flowers and homemade desserts. All these rich flavours are accompanied by a genuine house red wine, or you can pick from over seventy wines from their cellar, including DOC, Super Tuscans ITG Tuscans, Sassicaia, Ornellaia Guado di Tasso, Brunello di Montalcino, Tignanello, Antinori and Castello di Ama.
Another place not to be missed, tasty and authentic Tuscan food.
